Mrs. Wilbanks's social studies class is working on ceremonial masks.
The sixth grade students were assigned to make an African mask to go along with their studies of Africa. They have learned about the geography of Africa, the many different languages spoken, and the different tribes. We are also studying their customs and traditions.
The ceremonial masks are used to celebrate the harvest and other ceremonial dances. The masks are elaborately painted faces and are decorated with shells, feathers, beads, and bones.
Mrs. Wilkerson's science class is working on a backyard leaf collection.
