Mrs. Sudduth's Science Classes

Sophomores in A&P constructed cells using cake, candy, play dough. and various other items. The students had to construct the cell and verbally name the structure of the cell and give their functions.

Mrs. Sudduth's freshman biology class studied the saturation of mixtures and viewed the bacteria through a microscope. The experiment called "Super Raisins" allowed the students to study chemical reactions. They used a mixture of water, vinegar, and baking soda. As a result of a chemical reaction between the vinegar and baking soda, the gas (Carbon Dioxide) formed causing the raisins to rise and fall repeatedly.

"Do baceria taste food?" If they're the kind found in yogurt, they taste great! The students made slides and observed the rod-shaped bacteria feed on the sugar in milk.
