Dare Graduation
All twenty -eight fifth grade students at Leake Academy participated in teh Drug Awareness Resistance Education program this year. On Thursday, April 27, they went to Carthage Elementary School for the graduation ceremony, held jointly with the other schools in the county. Deputy Michael Harper, the Dare officer for Leake County, was in charge of the program and made the opening remarks. Sheriff Greg Waggoner also encouraged teh children to stay drug free; he then introduces the keynote speaker- MS First Lady, Marsha Barbour, who spoke to the students about the opportunities available to them in our state if they would avoid drugs. Finally, the children were entertained by magician Allen Sands.
