Insects in Court!
The Biology students were placed in groups of 4 and were assigned to research various insect orders. Their insect order would be on trial for "crimes" against humans. One pair of the students researched the insect order's beneficial impact on human's and prepared a defense of its value to society. The second pair of the group researched to insect order's harmful impact on humans adn prepared an indictment against it.
Each pair presented its case to the class. Each side was given a chance to give a testimonay, cross examine, and give final arguements. Other class members acted as the jury and weighed the value of the insect order in human society. We learned so man things about insects in our "class court."
