Spanish Club

Anyone currently enrolled in Spanish I or II at LA is eligible to be a member of the Spanish Club.  Past activities have included a fiesta at Christmas and a trip to Old Mexico restaurant in April.  Last year,   the Spanish Club participated in a project called "Coats for the Coast" in which the club collected used winter coats to donate to the hurricane victims on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Spanish I also participates in the Spanish Art Competition each year at school.  Be looking for this year's winners coming soon.

Spanish Art

In April the Leake Academy Spanish classes participated in a Spanish art competition.  After studying several Spanish artist, students were asked to create their own work of art patterned after Pablo Picasso  and his cubism style.  First place winners were Ashley Burnett (11th), for her "Cubic Berry", Drew Duncan (12th) for his "Pirata Steve", Ashley Devine (11th) for her "Flor en Azul", Stefanie Vamenta (11th) for her "Musico de la Noche", and Cody Mullen (11th) for his potryal fo "Senora Mathis". The students really enjoyed this art section and we hope to make the Spanish art competition an annual event at Leake Academy.
